Good News! Guwahati Railway Station Gets FSSAI “Eat Right Station” Certification

The Guwahati Railway Station of the Northeast Frontier Railway received a Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) certification recently. The station got awarded the “Eat Right Station” certification. They have achieved this remarkable feat by providing healthy, hygienic, and good-quality food to all the passengers. Guwahati Railway Station Becomes The First Station Of The Northeast Frontier Railway To Get This Recognition

This station got the certification for the time period of 3 years, starting from 2 June 2023 to 2 June 2025, as reported by Millennium Post. Sabyasachi De is the CPRO of Northeast Frontier Railway and he shared some details about this FSSAI certification. The Guwahati railway station has followed all the rules and regulations of FSSAI and also qualified for the award according to their criteria. With this incredible FSSAI certification, Guwahati railway station is the first and also the only station in the entire Northeast Railway to add this golden feather to the cap.

Sabyasachi De shared the Northeast Railway began taking steps to qualify several railway stations for the “Eat Right Station” certification by FSSAI. The selected stations are:

  • Alipurduar Junction
  • Katihar
  • Lumding
  • Rangiya
  • Tinsukia

The most significant benchmark and criteria for this recognition are providing good-quality nutritious food while maintaining proper cleanliness, safety, and hygiene facilities. Stations that follow these guidelines and adhere to all the rules are awarded the “Eat Right Station” certification.

This honourable certification falls under the “Eat Right India” movement, according to a report by The Sentinel Assam. This movement is initiated by FSSAI to focus on the food provided at railway stations and enhance their taste, hygiene check, and quality as well. This effort is taken for the improvement of the food quality provided to the passengers travelling on trains.
