It is said that a child completes the family. A child’s bright smile and innocent eyes light up the room and brings peace to your life. And it is a true blessing to have this little munchkin in your life. Unfortunately, same-sex couples lack this happiness. With several laws and social stigmas, it is nearly impossible for them to adopt a child and complete their family. But, the Taiwanese government has passed a landmark ruling and made it possible for them to adopt a child together!
Same-Sex Couples In Taiwan Can Adopt A Child Together!
Tuesday’s significant decision by Taiwan allowed same-sex couples to jointly adopt a child that neither of them is related. Prior to the decision, only heterosexual couples and single people were allowed to adopt children from unrelated biological parents. As for same-sex couples, only one member could register as the child’s legal parent. Due to this, queer people in the nation were forced to choose between adoption and marriage.
Even though Taiwan was the first nation in Asia to legalise same-sex unions in 2019, prejudice against LGBTQIA+ people is still a problem. Despite the fact that same-sex unions were legal four years ago, Taiwanese society is becoming increasingly conscious of the obstacles that still need to be overcome before full marital equality can be attained.

There is a lot of discussion over LGBT persons adopting children. Those in favour of this point out that having a family is a fundamental right. In fact, there is no difference between the children raised by straight and same-sex couples. Also, sexual orientation has nothing to do with caring for the child. And lastly, for children, adoption is better than orphanage.
