The world is going through an extremely challenging situation right now. Amid the pandemic, there are many people who have been stranded far off from their countries since long. Inter-country travel has already been banned by various nations to curb the spread of the infection. In the face of this crisis, the Indian Government has taken up a special initiative for all the foreign nationals stuck within the nation.

What Is It?

A web portal, Stranded in India has been launched by the Ministry of Tourism of the Government of India on 31st March 2020. The portal contains detailed information about the various facilities and services that the stranded tourists can avail. It enlists important contact details, which includes the following:

  • COVID-19 helpline number
  • Two helpline e-mail IDs
  • A Govt. WhatsApp helpdesk number
  • Tourist helpline number
  • Bureau of Immigration (BOI) helpline details

What’s More?

By visiting the portal, one will also find relevant details about the Ministry of External Affairs control centre. There is a drop-down menu on the homepage, from where a foreign national can select the State and Union Territory where he is stranded. A detailed form, just below the menu, contains fields for last travel destination, the current place of stay in India, contact number and e-mail.
