A Delhi banker turned foodie has converted his love for food into a revolutionary innovation—the Chole Kulche vending machine. Fed up with the unhygienic environment of street food but immensely in love with the taste of Chole Kulche, Sagar Malhotra, a Cambridge alumnus, decided to do something about it. He quit a secure banking job to create a vending machine that dispenses fresh, hygienic, and customisable Chole Kulche within 60 seconds!

This revolutionary device dispenses new, customisable plates of Chole Kulche in 60 seconds. You can choose your spice level—mild, medium, or super spicy—and classic maida or whole wheat Kulchas, as per personal taste buds and nutritional choices.
The machine operates very much like a coffee machine, containing a number of different types of Chole for various tastes. This blending of technology with gastronomic culture is the best demonstration of how innovation saves and improves cultural heritage.
Malhotra’s venture, very aptly titled ‘Chakh De Chole,’ has already opened outlets in Delhi’s Vikaspuri and Rajouri Garden. The company plans to venture into cities like Bengaluru and Jaipur in a big way to revolutionise the street food culture in India.

Social Media’s Response And Global Acceptance
The Chole Kulche vending machine has become a sensation on social networking websites. Gaurav Wasan (@youtubeswadofficial, Instagram username) created a viral video on how the machine is used and works. The video did generate a great amount of publicity and recognition. One user commented, ” Very hygienic, hope to see this on the streets of Hyderabad.”
Food enthusiasts and technology lovers alike have both enjoyed the concept for its simplicity and practicality. The ability of the machine to prepare a favourite dish in seconds without compromising on taste or hygiene has been hotly debated.
As ‘Chakh De Chole’ expands, it is paving the path for the intersection of food heritage and technological innovation and setting the stage for a food revolution.
Not only does the Chole Kulche vending machine preserve the integrity of a vintage dish but also reimagine it for the contemporary palate so that the rainbow mosaic of Indian street food continues to exist in the new world.
Is this the future of Indian street food?
