Gujarat’s Vadnagar will soon be home to a state-of-the-art archaeological experiential museum with immersive virtual reality and augmented reality experiences. The news was announced by top government sources about the heritage city of Vadnagar.
The thematic museum will be housed in a three-story building near an archaeological site. It will be showcasing the development of the town through the lens of the “seven cultural periods” spanning 2,500 years. It will also offer a “first-hand experience” of a walkway through the excavated site.
A cutting-edge museum will be ready by October this year, tracing the seven distinct civilisations found at Vadnagar from the 2nd century BC, coinciding with the Mauryan dynasty, to the current 19th century AD.

Vadnagar is a historic town in the Mehsana district of Gujarat. It is about 100 kilometres from Ahmedabad and has a population of 28,000 people.
Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) officials announced in December 2022 that Vadnagar town and the iconic Sun Temple at Modhera in Gujarat, as well as the rock-cut relief sculptures of Unakoti in Tripura, had been added to the UNESCO World Heritage Sites’ tentative list.
The ambitious project includes the restoration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s former school as a ‘Prerana’ vernacular school for 1500 students drawn from India’s 750 districts. The schools will teach them valour, compassion, and more through the inspirational stories of India’s great leaders. (As per The Indian Express and The Times of India)
