Gurgaon’s Longest Flyover To Cut Travel Time For Commuters By More Than Half!

What can we do to transform Gurgaon in a year? Solve the traffic situation of course. But is that really possible to do in a year? National Highways Authority of India sure thinks so. Gurgaon is set to get its longest flyover on the busy Gurugram-Alwar National Highway 48 in one year. The mark might be ambitious but, we are very hopeful. Go big or go home! Delhi NCR definitely needs big initiatives like these for the extreme traffic situation that we face on a daily basis, specially during office hours.

What Is It

The Union Transport and Highways Ministry have approved a project to help the daily congestion in Gurgaon. Oriental Infrastructure Pvt Ltd which will be constructing Gurgaon’s longest flyover under NHAI supervision. It is proposed to be a five-km-long flyover with a six-lane main carriageway and a three-lane service road. The flyover between Subhash Chowk and Badshahpur is likely to reduce travel time by half or less. The 8 km stretch currently consumes about 30 to 50 minutes of commuters’ time due to heavy congestion. Construction has been on in full force for 2 months already. NHAI Project Director Ashok Kumar Sharma told reporters that maximum manpower has been unleashed to meet the one-year deadline. If you are going to face Gurgaon’s traffic then you must reward yourself with The Best Shawarma at Lazeez In Gurgaon’s Galleria Market for just ₹200!

What’s More

Reports also say that there will be an underpass at Subhash Chowk and “another at the T-junction near Vatika Chowk where the Southern Peripheral Road (SPR) merges with Sohna Road.” Three foot overbridges will also be constructed for pedestrians. All three projects are being constructed simultaneously. NDTV informed that Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) expressway from National Highway 48 near Rajiv Chowk will also witness alternate connectivity easing traffic. Gurgaon’s longest flyover is a much-needed asset for Delhi NCR’s traffic woes.

We all dread taking a car back from work in Gurgaon because of the unpredictable transit hours. Those office hours are a pain for Delhi’s workforce but, it is unavoidable. The metro can only do so much. The longest flyover in Gurgaon will hopefully unclog ways in ripple effect and not just on its designated path.
