You’ve often seen conmen in movies who steal things and services from under people’s noses. Now, one such case has happened in real life. Recently, a person duped a 5-star hotel in Delhi and managed to live there for close to two years without paying a single penny. He did not pull off this daring feat on his own though. It is alleged that a hotel staffer colluded with the man and hid his tracks so that he wouldn’t be discovered.

In an event that seems like a plot straight out of a mystery book, a man managed to dupe a 5-star hotel in Delhi for close to two years. The man has been identified as Ankush Dutta who is a resident of Guwahati. Dutta stayed in Roseate House, a 5-star hotel located in Delhi’s Aerocity for 603 days without paying a single dime.
The management of the hotel was duped of around ₹58.34 lakhs when he left the hotel without settling the bill. According to reports, he wasn’t alone in this scam. He allegedly colluded with a staff member, who has been identified as the head of the Front Office Department of the hotel, Prem Prakash.
It is also alleged that Prem Prakash accepted illicit cash payments in exchange for his help in duping the hotel. Once this scam was discovered, the hotel management filed a complaint with the Indira Gandhi International Airport Police or the IGIA police.

Software Of Hotel Systems Manipulated, Officials Misled

One of the allegations against Prakash is that he manipulated the system of the hotel software systems so that the scam could continue. The police are currently investigating the matter in depth and no arrests have been made so far.
In addition to staying in the hotel for an extended period of time, he also enjoyed free booze, free food items, as well as laundry and other services available at the hotel. As per reports, the cheques that Dutta had given to the hotel in the form of payments were also all bounced.
