Generally, people ask their friends or family members to bring chocolate, iPhones, makeup, skincare and whatnot when they are visiting foreign lands. On this episode of Sunday Brunch, our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani, got to know what Aaditya Thackeray bought for his grandfather, Balasaheb Thackeray, whenever he came home from abroad. Aaditya Thackeray Would Always Get Balasaheb Thackeray This From His Foreign Trips

Kamiya was extremely curious to know about some of Aaditya’s fondest memories with his grandfather. He told us some of the most precious things Balasaheb would do with him. He truly pampered his grandkids and even had specific activities and sessions for just the two of them. Aaditya shared one such memorable activity where he would bring a local language dictionary or thesaurus for his grandfather whenever he travelled outside India.

Aaditya shared that he would bring his grandfather French and German dictionaries. He highlighted that Balasaheb was forever keen on learning new things, especially languages. Hence, learning new words in foreign languages and discussing them was their favourite pastime. This is certainly a sweet memory the Thackerays share!

What Was His Grandfather’s Habit While Reading The Newspaper?

On the same topic, Aaditya continued, “I remember he used to write down words from his morning newspaper that he would find difficult to pronounce or understand. He used to write it down and ask me the meaning or pronunciation whenever I was back from school.” He told us that this came from the fact that his grandfather always wanted to be at the top of things and constantly update himself.

This cool yet effective habit of Balasaheb definitely impressed us! It brought back memories of when we used to do this while reading newspapers during our early teens in school. Raise your hand if you were a part of this gang and used to jot down new words in your diary.
