If you ask me about that one destination I’d love to explore over the upcoming weekends without any pause, I’d say Dehradun. It is one of the most beautiful destinations, thanks to its scenic valley views, flowing waterfalls and much more. And if you feel the same, then we’ve got the perfect 2-day Dehradun itinerary for you, saving you all the stress of planning. 

Your Perfect 2-Day Dehradun Itinerary

Day 1: Enjoy scenic views

Things to do

  • Once you arrive in Dehradun, freshen up, change into the perfect OOTD and start your journey to Robber’s Cave.
  • It is famous for a natural river that flows through a narrow, 600-metre-long limestone cave.
  • Then, head to Sahastradhara to enjoy the waterfalls, greenery and valley views.
  • End your day by shopping at the famous local market, Paltan Bazaar. Here, you can enjoy budget-friendly shopping and delicious street food.

  • You can have street food at the nearby cafés, like momos, chow mein and gahat ke paranthe.
  • For something sweet, don’t forget to try Jhangora ki kheer and Bal Mithai.

  • If you’re looking for a luxury hotel in Dehradun, you can stay at Welcomhotel by ITC Hotels Madhuban.

Day 2: Explore temples

Things to do

  • Start your day by visiting the famous Tapkeshwar Mahadev Temple, a cave temple dedicated to Lord Shiva.
  • Then, head to the Forest Research Institute, known for its colonial architecture, huge green campus and rich history, before making your way to Mindrolling Monastery. 
  • In the afternoon, visit Malsi Deer Park and then enjoy a beautiful sunset at Maldevta.

What to eat

  • For a local food experience in Dehradun, don’t miss Chole Katlambe, a crispy, flaky bread served with spicy chole, or Chetan’s Puri Sabzi, known for its hot puris served with different types of gravies.
  • Also, if possible, do visit Vicky Kashyap’s Dwarka Bun Tikki and try their popular bun tikki.

  • If, on the second day, you want to stay at a different hotel, you can visit Ramada by Wyndham Dehradun Chakrata Road.
  • It is located 3–4 km away from Tapkeshwar Mahadev Temple.
