Himachal Pradesh is known for its stunning mountains, lush greenery and peaceful escapes, but the growing problem of littering is taking away from that beauty. The Sarabhai vs Sarabhai actor shared a video from his trip, showing plastic bags, empty wrappers, bottles and cans lying around the otherwise scenic surroundings. What was meant to be an adventure to the famous hot springs turned into a disappointing sight as the group came across garbage strewn across the trail.

Sumeet Raghvan showed visuals of garbage lying around the scenic spot and even showed netizens his own bag of garbage that he and his fellow hikers had collected on the way.

Calling out the lack of civic sense, Raghvan said it was “shameful” to see people destroying such beautiful ecological spaces. He also urged the Himachal Pradesh government to take strict action, saying that people seem unlikely to develop civic sense on their own.

His post has since sparked a conversation online, with several users agreeing that tourists need to take more responsibility for the waste they leave behind. One user pointed out that the same Indians often follow rules abroad because of strict fines, while another called out the “chalta hai” attitude that continues to affect popular tourist destinations.

And this isn’t the first time Himachal’s litter problem has made headlines. From trekking trails to forests and tourist hotspots, videos and posts showing plastic waste across the mountains have repeatedly sparked outrage. In 2025, Himachal Pradesh even approved a deposit-refund scheme aimed at reducing non-biodegradable waste in popular tourist destinations.

For a state that attracts tourists for its untouched landscapes and natural beauty, the least visitors can do is leave the mountains the way they found them, or better, without leaving their trash behind.
