Hina Khan graced her presence at an iftari hosted by our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani, at Yazu in Mumbai. At Yazu, which happens to be Hina’s favourite spot for Pan-Asian cuisine, the actress candidly spoke about her triumphant yet challenging battle with Stage 3 breast cancer, the importance of screening for women and more. Needless to say, we were in awe of her strength, faith and wisdom.
Hina Khan Talks About The Importance Of Screening For Women
While gorging on sushi and nigiri, Hina Khan wished Kamiya Jani for Women’s Day. The two powerful women bonded over their shard love for Pan Asian food and drawing strength from the daily lives of women around them. Hina Khan also stressed that women needed to get themselves screened for cancerous cells at least once a year.
She said, “It’s so important for every woman across the globe to get themselves screened at least once a year.” Hina explains that the process takes just 15 minutes. She revealed about getting herself screened every year but her situation differs from the rest. She got diagnosed with breast cancer four months before getting herself screened. “Breast cancer is serious. It’s not that simple. You will not realise when you will land up from stage zero to four. There are some lumps which are found in your breasts but are not cancerous or malignant. Get them removed in time before they turn malignant,” she appeals.

A Woman Who Inspires Us
Hina stresses, “Early detection is a lifesaver. It’s half battle won.” She cites examples of Sonali Bendre and Sanjay Dutt who triumphantly beat cancer to live a cancer-free life today. She also credits her gynaecologist who taught her to do self screenings to detect any lumps in her breasts. The actress is a shining example of how even the hardest battles in life can be faced with grit, determination and unbeatable spirit. We salute Hina Khan for making our Women’s Day an inspiring one!
