Holi is fast approaching, and to facilitate faster and smoother travel, several authorities have now decided to run special trains and bus services to manage the Holi crowd across India. If you are also planning to travel somewhere or visit your hometown, these details may prove useful to you.
Northern Railway Plans 500 Holi Special Trains
The Northern Railway will run 500 Holi special trains to manage the rush during the festival. According to a report by Hindustan Times, crowd-control measures are also being stepped up across key stations in the National Capital Region (NCR), especially at New Delhi Railway Station. Around 600 additional trips are also being run by other railway zones.
These extensive arrangements are being made to ensure that passengers can travel without hassles, even during the heavy rush. But not just trains, 200 Holi special buses are also being planned. A number of festive trains have already started running. Plus, temporary holding areas will also be created at Anand Vihar and Ghaziabad railway stations, which see heavy rush during the festive season.
Special Buses To Run Across Multiple States
According to Patna Press, Bihar’s transport authorities have announced the operation of special buses to facilitate travel to Bihar for travellers from other states during the festival. The service will include 50 air-conditioned vehicles. These buses will run from Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Karnataka and Odisha. These buses will run from February 23 to March 23. Travellers will be able to book tickets online. It is a known fact that every year, festival travel to Bihar sees high demand. While trains have been arranged, these buses will also prove useful.
According to NewsPoint, the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) has decided to run Holi special buses on various routes, including Prayagraj. These special buses will run from February 28 to March 9 from Delhi to Prayagraj, Varanasi and Lucknow. Apart from this, additional buses will be operated from Anand Vihar in Delhi to Prayagraj. This will definitely offer relief to crowds returning home to celebrate the festival. According to Deccan Herald, the South Western Railway will also run special trains connecting to West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Uttarakhand to manage holi crowd.
