Hurricane Idalia Raised Havoc In Florida!

Hurricane Idalia flooded coastal areas, cut out power to thousands of people, and caused extensive damage in Florida. As it moved up the southeast coast of the US, it brought catastrophic storm surges and more torrential rain.

The storm roared across Florida before barreling into nearby Georgia, where it weakened to a tropical storm but continued to pour down up to 25 cm of rain and menace coastal areas with life-threatening storm surges, according to officials.

For the most impacted region in northwest Florida, they described Hurricane Idalia and its record-high surging waves as a once-in-a-lifetime event. On Wednesday evening, the storm, which was weakening, ripped over Georgia and South Carolina with winds of up to 60 mph (96 kph). It was anticipated that it would approach the North Carolina coast on Thursday before dissipating into the ocean during the weekend.

South And North Carolina & Georgia Were Affected By The Storm

The governor of North Carolina, Roy Cooper, issued a warning to residents of coastal and eastern inland counties, advising them to brace themselves for heavy rain and flooding, and to remain off flooded roadways.

Seawater flowed over dunes and spilt onto beachside streets in South Carolina as a result of the storm and king tides. In Charleston, a surge from Idalia breached the seawall defending the city, pouring ankle-deep ocean water into the streets and districts where horse-drawn carriages pass million-dollar residences and the well-known open-air market.

Idalia had fallen to a tropical storm, but it continued to create problems as it moved into Georgia. In Valdosta, Georgia, a man was killed when a tree fell on him while he was trying to clear another tree out of the road.
