The monsoon season made a grand entry in several parts of Maharashtra and residents can finally enjoy respite from the hot and humid weather. The onset of the rainy season has been recorded two days earlier than expected. Different villages and cities in the state, from Mumbai to Pune, received heavy rainfall. The weather conditions are likely to worsen with chances of further massive downpours. Ahead of the shift in weather, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) shared predictions for Maharashtra.
Maharashtra Is Likely To Receive Heavy Rainfall, IMD Forecasted
Taking to X, Siddharth (@SidKeVichaar) shared a visual of a part of Mumbai suffering from waterlogging after recent rainfall.

Mumbai continues to receive massive showers leading to severe waterlogged areas in different parts of the city. Heavy rains caused waterlogging not only in Mumbai but also in nearby bustling locations. According to posts on social media, places in Thane, Jalgaon, and Palghar reported waterlogging.
Looks like similar conditions are likely to continue for the next few days as IMD predicted moderate to heavy rainfall and thunderstorms in Mumbai, according to a report by News 18. The department also forecasted heavy rains in Madhya Maharashtra, coastal Karnataka, and Konkan and issued a red alert, according to a report by The Indian Express.

Showers are likely to hit these places in the next few days. A red alert has also been issued for Sindhudurg. Mumbai, Palghar, Raigad, and Thane have been issued with a yellow alert. Lastly, IMD issued an orange alert in Ratnagiri for rainfall.

States close to Maharashtra are highly likely to receive heavy showers. According to a report by The Economic Times, IMD has issued a red alert in Goa. The alert is for expectations for moderate to heavy rains in North and South Goa. A similar weather forecast has been predicted for Konkan, Karnataka, and south Madhya Maharashtra till Monday. All these places are likely to experience rainfall this week.
The weather department warned people about the possibility of traffic jams, flash floods, and broken trees. Stay safe!
