Here’s the golden question, what inspired Imtiaz Ali to travel to Antarctica with his daughter, Ida for the New Year? It would be freezing cold there during this time. It’s a unique travel destination, which is not usually frequented by many travellers. The Indin filmmaker has an interesting reason for this. His daughter, Ida loved watching the British animated show, Pingu while growing up. It was a show about the life of the penguin, Pingu and his family in the South Pole. Ida’s favourite cartoon character Pingu brought about a fascination for penguins in the child. So much so that when Imtiaz went to Australia, he didn’t go to see penguins because Ida wasn’t with him. Now finally the daddy-daughter are off to Antarctica to explore the gorgeous continent and of course spot the cute black-white species.
The cruise to Antarctica will start from the southernmost city in the world Ushuaia. Imtiaz Ali will be one amongst the many passengers sailing across the glaciers and snow-covered peaks, spotting snow leopards and seals on a hunt, listening to the call of great humpback whales and of course the penguins at play. Don’t get green with envy! The renowned Indian filmmaker will document the journey on board. So you can also be a part of his experience. When it comes to food, the cruise passengers will be pampered to the delectable of food of two times Michelin Star Chef Vineet Bhatia and one of the best international Michelin Star chefs of all time, Alain Ducasse.
