According to the most recent information, the Karnataka tourism authority is preparing to open jungle lodges in Kappatagudda’s forested areas. This action follows the location’s transformation into a well-known tourism destination in the state, drawing more visitors from both nearby and far away.

After a lot of rain, this area becomes lush and green every year. If tales are to be believed, Kappatagudda draws tourists from all over the nation, which is why the state government has started to implement development projects in this area.

Along these lines, there is also a plan to build more hotel facilities. Accordingly, the project was formally launched by Minister HK Patil, who took part in a groundbreaking ceremony.

By June 2024, assuming all goes according to plan, Kappatagudda’s forest hotels should be open for business. According to Minister HK Patil, Kappatagudda has enormous tourism potential and is comparable to well-known forested places like Bandipur, Nagarahole, or Dandeli.

In reference to this, Veerendra Maribasannavar, the Range Forest Officer of Kappatagudda, disclosed that the state tourism agency is constructing five or six hotels in the Mahalingpur area, each with two bedrooms and kitchens, as part of their ongoing efforts.

According to additional reports, hiking facilities were recently added to the area and received a resounding reception. Maribasannavar provided further details, stating that trekking in the interior forests of Kappatagudda had been reinstated following a temporary suspension owing to unfavorable weather conditions.

Additionally, paid parking has been implemented in response to the weekend visitor boom in order to pay for public safety personnel and other facilities. (As per Times Travel)

Raising Concerns

Some people raised concerns regarding this new development as the construction might cause pollution. Footfall from visitors might add to this pollution, especially during the weekends. The natural beauty of this place might go for a toss because of such developments in such forested regions.

Covering an approximate distance of 64 kilometers and spanning 22,400 hectares over hills from Binkadakatti to Singatalur, the project also includes plans to build an observation platform at Galigundbasanna and bring back jungle safaris as a year-round attraction.

Furthermore, the state government has been presented with proposals for a wildlife photography gallery that highlights the natural beauty of Kappatagudda; these concepts have so far garnered positive feedback, and financial support to carry out the development plans is anticipated.
