In a pioneering initiative, Air India has introduced the Apple AirTag location feature within its baggage-tracking system, marking a first in Asia. This integration is designed to help customers using iPhones, iPads, or Macs to keep tabs on their luggage. With more than 100 million items of baggage handled annually. This system promises to make lost or delayed baggage a thing of the past.

The airline’s mobile app and website have also been upgraded to support this feature. This allows users to link their AirTag’s location data through the ‘Find My’ app. This digital support aids in locating misplaced bags within the airport premises and speeds up the recovery process.

For passengers whose luggage does not arrive at the destination, the process is simple. Report the missing baggage at Air India’s Baggage Counter and file a Property Irregularity Report (PIR). Then, generate the ‘Share Item Location’ link via Apple’s ‘Find My’ app and associate it with the PIR number on the Air India mobile app or website. This shared link will help authorised airport teams quickly locate the baggage.
