Prior to Taiwan, the typhoon wreaked havoc in the Philippines, especially in its capital city – Manila. There, the storm was called Typhoon Carina. Many people died because of the storm in the Philippines and even more were injured.
As Typhoon #Gaemi batters Taiwan, it has also brought torrential rain and devastating flooding to the Philippines, where the typhoon is known as #CarinaPH.

Many people have taken to X (formerly known as Twitter) and shared bone-chilling visuals of the storm. Winds blowing off roofs like they’re made of paper, flooded streets, and more! Ahead of the storm, people stockpiled supplies and visuals of crowded supermarkets also went viral.
Flashfloods quickly went from gutter-deep to waist-deep around 5 am. It subsided before lunch but returned after a heavy downpour at noon. Strongly reminiscent of Ondoy/Ketsana in 2009. #CarinaPH #Gaemi #FloodPH #Habagat pic.twitter.com/DaRmBj6zIE
