Along with Covid19 Pandemic, India is also battling with the new Monkeypox virus. India’s very first case of Monkeypox has been detected in Kerala. On July 12, the infection was found in a man who returned to Kerala from the UAE. As per govt instructions, a team from the National Centre for Disease Control is now assisting the state for the same. The Govt of India has also issued a travel advisory to international passengers. Monkeypox Travel Advisory, What Travellers Must Avoid
The international travel advisory suggests that travellers avoid close contact with people having skin or genital lesions. Travellers are advised to not be in contact with animals. Small mammals including rats, squirrels, monkeys and apes are to be avoided. If you have been using products derived from wild animals from Africa, stop immediately. These also include beauty products such as creams and lotions. It’s better you avoid contaminated materials used by sick people.

What The States Must Do?
The advisory asks the States to conduct proper measures for thermal screenings and testing. The states should maintain high alert on entry points for better management of the diagnosis of the Monkeypox virus. According to the advisory, the states need to tighten referral arrangements from airports to identified link hospitals .Also, familiarizing the Bureau of Immigration personnel, airline personnel and State health personnel about the disease is the need of the hour. And the most important is to be on the lookout for any suspect. And in case there is detection of a suspect case of Monkeypox, States are asked to inform concerned airlines immediately for the disinfection procedure to be followed according to given guidelines.
Most Common Symptoms And What To Do If You Have Them
The symptoms suggestive of Monkeypox include fever, Headaches, Muscle aches and backaches. Along with that, you might also experience swollen lymph nodes, chills and exhaustion. However, the most common symptom is a rash that looks like pimples or blisters. These mostly appear on the face, inside the mouth, and various other parts of the body. So if you experience any of these symptoms, immediately consult the nearest health centre.
