Mumbai To Get Relief From Rainfall

According to the India Meteorological Department, rain is expected to continue across Maharashtra, but intensity is likely to ease over Mumbai, Thane and Palghar, with only mild rainfall forecast over the next few days. Raigad, however, will remain under a yellow alert until the end of July, while Ratnagiri is expected to receive isolated heavy showers despite an overall decline in rain activity. Light rain caused by thunderstorms is also likely in Nashik, Pune, Kolhapur, Satara and Sangli, although the ghat regions of Pune and Satara could continue to experience heavy rainfall at isolated places.

On Monday, Mumbai and neighbouring districts woke up to heavy showers under a yellow alert. According to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) data, the island city measured the highest average rainfall at 18 mm, followed by 15 mm in the eastern suburbs and 13.19 mm in the western suburbs.

Delhi & Other Parts Of India To Witness Heavy Rainfall

While rainfall is likely to ease in parts of Maharashtra, the southwest monsoon has gained momentum across the country. The IMD said a depression over the northwest Bay of Bengal is likely to worsen, triggering widespread rainfall across eastern, central and northwestern India.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall has been predicted for Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Gangetic West Bengal, while an extreme rain warning remains in place until July 30 for parts of West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. The active monsoon spell is also predicted to bring widespread rain to Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Jammu & Kashmir, Gujarat, Konkan & Goa, Kerala, Coastal Karnataka and several northeastern states through August 1.
