In a vibrant episode of Tere Gully Mein, our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani, met with none other than famous financial influencer Anushka Rathod, and we explored the lanes of Surat with her. Surat is no longer just known as a diamond city but also as a must-visit place for foodies. And in this episode, Anushka Rathod introduced us to all the unique dishes this city has to offer. She even got us to try Gujarat’s very own cold drink that rivals the usual sodas. Read on to learn all about it.
We Tried Khawsa And Sosyo With Anushka Rathod In Surat
Our first stop on this food trail with Anushka Rathod in Surat was Lijjat Khawsa Centre, where we got to try a very desi version of the Burmese Khao Suey. Apart from the usual condiments, this desi version of the noodle soup is also topped with chutneys and papdi. We paired this unique dish with none other than Sosyo, the unique and widely popular carbonated drink in Gujarat and a proud representative of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
This one rivals all carbonated soda drinks that are widely popular in India, with a unique flavour profile. This homegrown drink is a go-to for most people in Gujarat. As soon as Kamiya took a sip, her instant reaction came as a question: Why is it only available in Surat? She declared it better than all other cola drinks she has ever tried.

Another Irresistible Drink From Our Food Trail
Our food trail with Anushka Rathod continued, and we came across a lot of fun flavours of Khakhra, Locho, Tamatar Bhajiya, and Cold Coco. One of the highlights of this episode was this very unique and cold version of regular hot chocolate. Melted chocolate is simmered with milk until it thickens, and then it is rested on ice. Once it’s cool enough, it is poured over crushed ice, and believe you me, it tastes so much better than it sounds. This creamy and cold chocolate drink can lift up your spirits better than any other drink!
