Chhattisgarh CM Vishnu Deo Talks Life, Politics, Fave Dish On Sunday Brunch With Kamiya Jani

Chhattisgarh CM

For this special Sunday Brunch episode, our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani, stepped into the new and beautiful home of Chhattisgarh CM, Shri Vishnu Deo Sai. But this episode was not about politics. Instead, we delved into his childhood and personal life over lots of food. Come on, no Sunday Brunch is complete without a hearty spread, right? Here’s what all went down on this episode!

Chhattisgarh CM Treats Us To A Hearty Sunday Brunch

For this Sunday Brunch episode, Kamiya visited Shri Vishnu Deo Sai’s home in Nava Raipur. We were inspired by the CM’s journey: coming from a small village, he now holds one of the most important positions in the state. Our conversation began with the CM sharing that his family has always been involved in politics. His father passed away when he was just 10 years old. CM Vishnu Deo Sai said he had never imagined that after serving as a tribal Sarpanch in his village, he would one day become the CM of Chhattisgarh.

When asked if he misses village life now that he lives in Nava Raipur, he immediately said yes and added that he tries to visit at least once a month to spend time with his family. He then gave us a tour of his beautiful home before we sat down for brunch. The spread included authentic Chhattisgarhi delicacies like Thethri, Khurma, Thekua, and Mahua Ke Ladoo, which have countless health benefits. The brunch also featured Chilla and Farra. CM Vishnu Deo Sai pointed out that the Chilla is made of rice, highlighting Chhattisgarh’s nickname as the ‘Rice Bowl of India’. The state is also a major contributor to India’s rice production and produces several rice varieties.

A Foodie CM & His Favourite Dish

All the snacks on the table were completely healthy and guilt-free. While enjoying the food, we asked the CM about his favourite dish. Without missing a beat, he said he loves Chawal ka Chilla. He also revealed that he can cook for himself since his family never hired a cook. After sharing anecdotes from his childhood, we played our signature ‘This or That’ game with CM Vishnu Deo Sai. He was straightforward with all his answers, showing he’s a true foodie who knows exactly what he likes.

We also discussed tourism in the state before asking CM how he met his wife, who has been a big part of his journey. He shared that his wife’s elder sister is married to his cousin. Since she used to visit often, they fell in love and eventually married. He added that he often takes her advice before making decisions. It’s such a cute, filmy story! We wrapped up the episode with a rapid-fire round with the CM, making it a fun Sunday Brunch!
