Sara Tendulkar Reveals What A Typical Meal At The Tendulkar Household Looks Like

When Kamiya Jani walked into Sara Tendulkar’s Pilates Academy, the day instantly turned into a mix of sweat, laughter, and stories; the kind that stretched far beyond the mat. Between sets, our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani, casually asked Sara what a typical brunch at the Tendulkar home looked like, and suddenly, the conversation took a delicious turn.

Sara Tendulkar Home Brunch: A Blend Of Maharashtrian And Gujarati Flavours

Sara’s eyes lit up. “You know, I’ve grown up around a lot of Maharashtrian food,” she said, with the kind of fondness in her tone that made you picture a kitchen filled with the aroma of freshly made puran polis and bhajis. But she didn’t stop there. “We eat everything, all of us are big foodies,” she added, laughing the way only someone raised in a house where food equals love would.

Her family table, as she described it, is a perfect reflection of her roots: Gujarati, Maharashtrian, and a pinch of British warmth. Her mother, Anjali, carries that fascinating blend in her heritage; she is half Gujarati and half British. And Sara Tendulkar’s British grandmother, the star of many family meals, is the biggest foodie and the best cook in the house, as Sara mentions.

Family, Flavour, And Nostalgia

Then there’s her other grandmother, who lives with them and keeps the Maharashtrian spirit alive. “She’s a huge fan of Maharashtrian food,” Sara Tendulkar shared, smiling. “So that’s something we always have at home.” Between her grandmother’s Maharashtrian splash and her mum’s Gujarati experiments, the dining table at the Tendulkar house sounds like a festival, one that celebrates every flavour and story that built their family.

Nothing about it feels curated or fancy; it’s warm, real, and full of character and the kind of meal where everyone has a favourite dish and a story attached to it. One moment you’re reaching for the thepla, the next, a spoonful of shrikhanda finds its way onto your plate, and nobody minds.
