Upasana Konidela Reveals All About The Special Dosa Named After Her Father-In-Law, Chiranjeevi

Hyderabad’s turn on Sunday Brunch with Kamiya Jani came from the home of Upasana Konidela, wife of actor Ram Charan. The spread featured authentic South Indian comfort food, from pongal and pulihora to crispy thella dosa. The highlight was the family’s food folklore, the closely guarded Chiranjeevi dosa recipe.

Hyderabad got its moment in the Sunday Brunch with Kamiya Jani, and the stage wasn’t a fancy restaurant. It was the home of Upasana  Konidela, business leader, philanthropist, and wife of actor Ram Charan. Kamiya arrived curious, and what she found was a brunch table that felt straight out of a South Indian grandmother’s kitchen.

The spread had no pretense, just pure comfort: pongal that smelled of ghee, tangy pulihora, soft upma, and the star of the morning, crispy thella dosa, paired with chicken curry and tangy pachadi. As plates were filled and stories exchanged, one thing became clear: food in this household is not casual; it carries memory, status, and even a touch of mystery.

“Your family seems so particular about food,” Kamiya remarked, and Upasana agreed without hesitation. That fastidiousness, she explained, comes straight from her father-in-law, Chiranjeevi, the man who changed Telugu cinema with his megastar charisma and still commands respect far beyond the screen.

Dosa Named After Her Father-In-Law

And then came the anecdote that turned brunch into something bigger than a meal: the “Chiranjeevi Dosa.” Yes, there is a dosa that literally bears his name. Upasana revealed that it’s not just a dish but a legacy. The twist is that nobody knows the recipe except him.

Kamiya, never one to let a secret pass, teased her: “Do you know it?” Upasana gives a smile as she says, “No, I don’t!” A dosa so closely guarded that even the daughter-in-law of the house can’t crack it- now that’s food folklore!

The conversation kept circling back to South Indian cuisine, and it was clear that it wasn’t small talk. For Upasana, pongal isn’t just breakfast; it’s tradition and Pulihora isn’t simply tangy rice; it’s festive on its own. The food on the table wasn’t chosen to create an impression, it was chosen because it’s what the family actually eats, what they crave, what ties them back to home no matter how public their lives get.
