Across India’s big cities, Eid-e-Milad-Un Nabi, the Prophet Muhammad’s birth anniversary, is set to unfold not just as a religious celebration but as an urban stress test. Processions, some stretching miles, will sweep through neighbourhoods today and over the weekend. Police are rolling out barricades, megaphones, and detour maps, while drivers are bracing for hours lost to gridlock.

Cities Struggle With Traffic Amid Eid-E-Milad Celebrations

Bangalore: According to India TV News, from 10 am to 10 pm, the procession will snake from Nagawara Main Road through Tannery Road, Haines Road, and Miller’s Road before converging at the Shivajinagar Kombalposh Dargah. No cars are allowed on the mentioned stretches. Nagawara Junction-Pottery Circle and parts of Govindapura and HBR Layout are now tow-away zones. Expect overwhelming traffic and blockages on Bellary Road, KG Road, Palace Road, and CV Raman Road, with detours herding commuters toward BVK Iyengar Road and Good Shed Road.

Ahmedabad: If Bengaluru’s jam is bad, Ahmedabad’s might be worse, as two festivals collide here. From 2 pm onwards, the old city of Jamalpur, Raikhad, Lal Darwaja and Mirzapur is off-limits.

Hubballi & Davanagere: Hubballi will lock down twice: Friday afternoon and late into Saturday night. Channamma Circle, Gabbur Cross, and Kamaripet Cross are all barricaded. Trucks are being shoved onto bypass roads. After recent communal tensions, the city is on high alert with more cops, more checkpoints, and a strong plea from the administration.

Lucknow: The capital of Uttar Pradesh has its own traffic script. The procession kicks off at Amin-ud-Daula Park, threads through Moulviganj, Nakhas, and Haiderganj, and winds up at Eidgah.

Crowds And Crossroads Across Pune & Mumbai

In Pune, Tilak Chowk, Hirabaug, and Balgandharva are already overwhelmed with people. Police have fanned out, but commuters complain barricades are patchy and risky squeezes continue. Mumbai has pushed the Eid procession to September 8, sidestepping the Ganesh Visarjan rush. Still, restrictions will be heavy. Ghatkopar-Mankhurd Link Road and LBS Marg are shut to trucks, with no-parking signs plastered across Madhukar Kadam Marg and PL Lokhande Marg, as stated by India TV News.

Eid-e-Milad, or Mawlid, is celebrated with chants, tableaus, and devotion across the Muslim world. In India’s cities, though, faith often collides with fragile traffic grids. Alongside the celebrations, city authorities face the challenge of managing congestion, safety, and order.
