Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk recently joined Nikhil Kamath on his podcast, “WTF is”, for an intriguing conversation that spanned technology, the future of work, and even Musk’s unexpected connections to India. During the discussion, Musk shared bold predictions about AI, including his view that working may become “optional” within the next two decades, offering viewers and listeners a glimpse into his vision of the future.

The latest episode of Nikhil Kamath’s podcast is out, and everyone’s talking about it, and it’s easy to see why, as Elon Musk was the guest this time! In the nearly two-hour conversation, the two discussed Elon’s work, artificial intelligence, and other topics. What truly stood out for most people was the billionaire entrepreneur’s interesting prediction for the future.

Elon Musk told Nikhil Kamath that, due to artificial intelligence and robotics, working will become optional in the next 20 years! “It may not be that far in the future. Maybe, I say, in less than 20 years, working will be optional. Working at all will be optional. It will be more like a hobby, pretty much,” he said on the podcast.

“The advancements in AI and robotics will bring us to the point where working is optional in the same way that you can grow your own vegetables in your garden, or you could go to the store and buy vegetables,” Elon added.

During the conversation, Elon Musk revealed to Nikhil Kamath that his partner, Shivon Zilis, is half-Indian, and one of their sons has the middle name ‘Sekhar’. He was named after Indian-American physicist and Nobel laureate Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar.

The duo further spoke about Indians in America. Nikhil Kamath pointed out that the US has long attracted exceptionally talented individuals, including many professionals of Indian origin. Elon Musk concurred, adding, “America has gained immensely from the talented Indians who have made their way there.”
