Next week, many places may face severe weather conditions like heavy rainfall, strong winds, and rough seas. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned about the possible formation of a cyclones the Bay of Bengal. A low-pressure area has already formed and is likely to strengthen into a deep depression by October 26, and then into a cyclonic storm over the southwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal by the morning of October 27. According to IMD, the coastal regions of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh may see strong winds, rough seas, and heavy rainfall due to this weather system. Once it intensifies into a cyclone, it will be named Cyclone Montha, reported NDTV. But what does Montha mean? The name Montha was suggested by Thailand and means ‘fragrant flower’ or ‘beautiful flower’ in Thai.
Cyclone names in this region are given by the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO)/ESCAP Panel on Tropical Cyclones. The panel includes 13 countries: India, Bangladesh, Iran, Maldives, Myanmar, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, UAE, and Yemen.

Rainfall And Weather Alerts
According to NDTV, from October 26 to 29, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal will experience continuous rainfall. On October 26, some areas will see light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning, while Tiruvallur, Chennai, Chengalpattu, Kancheepuram, Ranipet, Villuppuram, and Puducherry may get heavy rain. Similar conditions will continue on October 27, with Kancheepuram, Chengalpattu, Tiruvallur, Chennai, and Ranipet likely to receive heavy rainfall.
On October 28 and 29, light to moderate rain may occur in several areas across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal. Also on October 28, places Kancheepuram, Chengalpattu, Tiruvallur, Chennai, and Ranipet will experience heavy rainfall.
