Maharashtra Barber Shops Hike Prices For Grooming Services

As per a report by The Economic Times, Maharashtra Nabhik Mahamandal, a body representing the barber community in the state, has increased charges for grooming services by 20%. This includes basic grooming services like haircuts and beard trimmings. The revised rates come into effect on June 6, 2026.

Shyam Askarkar, a functionary of the community, attributed this price hike to global economic uncertainties and higher operating costs. He revealed that salon materials and consumables have become costlier due to the US-Iran conflict. Salon operators have been facing issues in managing day-to-day operations due to the sharp rise in expenses and product costs.

Revised Rates Of Haircuts & Other Grooming Services Here

While the rates are generally revised once every two years, in the month of January, this time it’s different. Grooming services’ rates in Maharashtra have been revised mid-term. With about 1 lakh barber shops in Maharashtra, the significant price hike is expected to pinch many residents who have leaned on their neighbourhood barber shops for their grooming needs.
