During an episode of Jimmy Jimmy The Show, XO Curls’ Tanya Eldred Bhat shared a revelation that surprised many Corner House fans and left older patrons feeling nostalgic. Before becoming every ice cream lover’s hotspot, the place was actually a full-fledged eatery serving everything from burgers and hot dogs to pizzas.
“They used to have full-on food,” Tanya said, making it hard to believe that the brand we now associate with its iconic Death By Chocolate sundae once had an extensive menu where ice cream was just a side offering. Just like us, host Jimmy Xavier was also shocked and found it hard to believe a time where Bengaluru’s Corner House was more than just an ice cream place serving delectable sundaes!

The Iconic Bengaluru Eatery
Established in 1982, Corner House originally began as a fast-food café in Bengaluru. Its menu featured made-from-scratch bread for burgers and sandwiches–long before its famous ice cream sundaes took centre stage. While the brand is now known for its signature sundaes and classic ice creams, many still remember its burgers and pizzas fondly.
In a social media post, Corner House also revealed that its iconic Death by Chocolate was created in 1994 after a customer asked for a “bigger, chocolatey, and sinful” dessert.
