Death Toll Rises As Kerala Battles Severe Flooding
In Kerala, severe flooding has claimed around 15 lives so far. More than 11,000 people have taken shelter in relief camps as authorities continue rescue and relief operations. The highest number of relief camps is at Pathanamthitta with 64, Kozhikode with 36, Wayanad with 28, Kannur with 18, Alappuzha with 14, Idukki with 13, Ernakulam with seven, and Thrissur and Kasaragod with six each.
As per News18, according to Kerala Chief Minister VD Satheesan, the people who died in the flood were four in Malappuram, three in Kottayam, two each in Ernakulam and Kollam, and one each in Idukki, Muvattupuzha, Kannur and Kozhikode.
Seven people are still missing. Two people each are missing from Kollam and Kannur, while one person each is missing from Malappuram, Idukki and Muvattupuzha. Continuous rainfall since Sunday has caused widespread flooding, damaging several towns and villages across the state.

How’s The Situation In Assam?
Now, talking about the current situation in Assam, the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) revealed that the death toll has risen to 82. According to the Times Of India, across seven districts, around 1.78 lakh people have been affected. However, there is some relief as the number of affected people has come down from over 1.92 lakh. Actor Randeep Hooda is working with NGO Global Sikhs to help the affected families. He is visiting relief camps, serving food, and much more.
The worst-hit district in Assam is Charaideo. More than 75,000 people have been affected there, followed by over 58,000 people in Sivasagar. The rescue operations are continuing. At present, 44 relief camps are giving shelter to around 15,000 people who had to leave their homes. Another 17 relief centres are providing food, essential supplies and other help to over 5,500 people.
