TasteAtlas has released its latest ranking of the 50 Best Porridges for 2025, and it features some of the most famous comfort food from across the globe. Every region has its beloved porridge version, and this list highlights the very best. What caught our attention was the fact that an Indian dish also made it to the list! Can you guess which one? Indian Porridge Make It To The Top 50 Best Porridges List
India’s favourite breakfast and evening dish, upma, has made it to TasteAtlas’s “50 Best Porridges”. The dish has secured 43rd position in the list, leaving us all proud. Upma is a South Indian dish, but is cooked in many households across India. It is prepared with dry semolina and cooked to a form a thick porridge. Traditionally, this dish is slightly bland, but nuts, beans, and spices are added for flavour.
Upma is cooked in various varieties like Rava Upma, Vermicelli Upma, Rice Upma, Bread Upma, Poha Upma, Vegetable Upma, Sabudana Upma, Oats Upma, and more. Everyone has their own version of upma, and its versatility is one of its biggest strengths.

Other Porridges That Made It To The List
Apart from the above-mentioned Indian dish, many other types of porridges from across the globe made it to the list of 50 best porridges. On top one, we have Bubur Ayam from Indonesia. According to TasteAtlas’s website, this dish is a thick rice porridge that is topped with shredded chicken and savoury condiments.
