But for women observing the Karwa Chauth fast, the day looks a little different. After fasting for many hours, the body needs gentle nourishment, so it’s important to eat foods that help restore energy and hydration without upsetting the stomach. What To Eat After Karwa Chauth Fast

Here’s the list of some food items an individual can eat after hours without food or water on Karwa Chauth – 

1. Fruits

Eating fruits on an empty stomach is the perfect way to break your fast. They are gentle on the stomach and help rehydrate the body. Options like bananas, apples, and pomegranates give natural energy and essential vitamins after a long day of fasting.

2. Dairy options

Milk, lassi, or paneer-based dishes are rich in protein and calcium. They help restore energy, keep the body hydrated, and are easy to digest.

3. Nuts and seeds

Break your fast with something healthy like a small portion of almonds, walnuts, or cashews. It is a quick and and satisfying way to boost energy.

4. Warm grains

Eat light dishes like khichdi, which is a mix of rice and lentils or oatmeal porridge, which, compared to other food items, are easier to digest and provide the right protein to your body.

5. Festive sweets

Indian sweets like kheer, barfi, or gulab jamun can be enjoyed as well, but in smaller quantities. Healthier variations, such as millet or sesame-based barfi, or rava gulab jamun, can also be eaten to feel light on stomach.

6. Cooked vegetables

Cooked vegetables in lightly spiced curries or stir-fries help restore vitamins and minerals.  It ensures you body doesn’t feel too heavy after fasting.

7. Breads

Simple breads like chapati or puri make the meal more filling and pair well with vegetables or lentil dishes.

How Do Women Break Fast?

On the day of Karwa Chauth, women start the day by eating sargi prepared by their mother-in-law. They also listen to the Karwa Path to know the story behind this festival. In the evening, married women wait for the moon to rise. Once it appears, they view it through a sieve while offering it water. After this ritual, they break their fast by taking their first sip of water.
