Across India, several infrastructure projects are currently underway to improve roads and travel facilities. Work is also ongoing on some of the busiest highways. So, if you’re planning to travel on the Mumbai–Pune Expressway, you may need to adjust your schedule, as it will remain closed for a few hours. Here’s everything you need to know about the dates.
Mumbai-Pune Expressway To Face Temporary Closure
Vehicular movement on the Mumbai–Pune Expressway, also known as the Yashwantrao Chavan Expressway, will face temporary disruptions over two days due to ongoing bridge maintenance work. These temporary closures are happening because the ₹6,695 crore “Missing Link” project is almost finished and needs some final work before its May 1 deadline.
According to Oneindia, the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) has confirmed that traffic will be completely halted in one direction for three hours on April 23 and April 24. Officials say the closure is needed to remove temporary support structures and complete painting work on the bridge as part of the final touches.

When Will The Expressway Be Closed?
On April 23, between 12 PM and 3 PM, the closure will affect vehicles moving towards Mumbai. As per Oneindia, during this period, authorities will divert traffic near Kiwale. Commuters will have to take the Dehu Road–Talegaon route, connecting to National Highway 48. They will further rejoin the expressway at the Kusgaon toll plaza.
The next day, April 24, the restriction will shift to the Pune side. Vehicles heading towards Pune will face a complete halt between 12 PM and 3 PM. During this time, traffic will be diverted from the Kusgaon toll plaza onto NH 48. Vehicles will take the Dehu Road–Kiwale route during the diversion and then rejoin the expressway once they cross the construction area.
So, before you decide to travel on this expressway, make sure you check the shutdown update.
