Smoke House Deli has a limited-edition Oktoberfest menu at its Colaba and NESCO outlets. There are beer buckets in three-, six-, and nine-beer formats, plus sharing platters covering vegetarian, chicken and pork options. The Dirty Pork & Sausage Platter is exactly as indulgent as it sounds, while the Smoke House Loaded Chicken Platter is made for tables where nobody wants to order just one thing. Even the famous doodle-style table mats get an Oktoberfest update with crosswords and games.

Independence Brewing Company is bringing its annual “Freedom to Fest” to Mumbai with two German-style beers that deserve some attention of their own. Munich Mischief is a Märzen-style brew, while Darth Vader is a Dunkelweizen, and the accompanying “Postcards from Berlin” menu runs from September 26 to October 10. Expect pretzel fried chicken, Berlin chilli dogs, lamb pepper fry Berliner, Kase Kartoffel, German street pizza and Black Forest churros. Basically, Berlin has been given a very Indian night-out treatment.

At Phoenix Palladium, Gourmet Village is turning Oktoberfest into more than a dinner reservation. Woodside Inn is stretching its Oktoberfest celebrations across almost the entire month of October, with Mumbai getting its own Bavarian-inspired pub menu and beer line-up. The food is anything but shy: cream and onion pretzel knots, Korean BBQ pretzel knots, beer-battered gherkin fritters, chicken schnitzel bites with gochujang and Manchego, beer and cheese rigatoni, and a Bavarian hot dog with currywurst ketchup.
