Rapido Food Delivery Platform To Go Live Soon
In the food delivery market, Zomato and Swiggy are well-established players, and soon Rapido will compete with them. According to Moneycontrol, Rapido’s Ownly will go live this week at three locations—Koramangala, HSR Layout, and BTM Layout. Unlike the existing apps, restaurants will not have to pay commission fees on Rapido’s Ownly.
We have often noticed that the online prices differ from the ones we pay in person at restaurants, but that will not be the case with Ownly. This app will show you offline prices on the app as well. They believe that this move will be beneficial for both restaurants and customers. With Ownly, restaurants can reduce their operational costs, and customers will no longer have to pay hidden charges. The company is already testing the new app among their employees to understand how it’s operating and will be available for customers on both the App Store on iOS and the Google Play Store.

How Will Restaurants Benefit From This New App?
In their pitch to restaurants, Rapido mentioned that the online prices will be similar to offline prices, and they will list at least four meals priced within a ₹150 cap to offer affordable prices to the customers. Coming to the delivery fee, Rapido will charge a flat fee of ₹25 for orders above ₹100, ₹20 for smaller orders within 4 km. Rapido will initially cap these costs to offer competitive pricing. Moneycontrol states that, unlike Zomato and Swiggy, Ownly will not include any platform fees, packaging charges, or increased food prices.
Rapido is launching this new platform for users who are not ordering online food because of extra and hidden charges. For now, Ownly will be available solely in Bengaluru, and after analysing the public response, the company will think about expanding this business in other cities.
It will be interesting to see how this new platform takes on industry leaders like Zomato and Swiggy and makes its own space in the market. What are your thoughts on this? Let us know in the comments section.
