A vodka distilled thousands of kilometres away in Russia is about to compete for shelf space in India, a country where premium alcohol drinkers have never had more choice. ROSIND, the official India partner of the Russian Export Center, has launched Soyuzprod Vodka in the Indian market, placing an authentic Russian spirit in front of consumers who are very willing to experiment beyond familiar labels.
India Gets A Taste Of Russia As Soyuzprod Vodka Hits Shelves Nationwide
India’s vodka category is already worth more than ₹39,000 crore, or roughly USD 4.7 billion. Industry estimates suggest that figure could swell to around USD 7.5 billion by 2034. A decade ago, imported vodka held a niche space. Today, changing tastes, higher disposable incomes and an expanding cocktail culture have changed the equation and how. Consumers are drinking differently. More importantly, they’re buying differently. For ROSIND, that change represents a delicious gateway.
The organisation has spent years facilitating trade between Russia and India. Now it wants to help Russian consumer brands build lasting businesses here. Behind the initiative is a leadership team that includes Oleg Kalaev, a veteran public figure who has served as Minister of Finance, Minister of Economy, Deputy Prime Minister and First Deputy Prime Minister in the Government of North Ossetia-Alania.
The timing, according to ROSIND, could hardly be better.
“India is one of the most exciting growth markets for premium spirits globally, and consumers today are increasingly seeking authenticity, heritage and quality,” says Bobby Kohli, Executive Director of ROSIND.

Historic Russian Distillery’s Vodka Brand Expands To India
That emphasis on heritage is blended into almost every aspect of the brand.
Soyuzprod is produced at the historic Salut Distillery, whose roots trace back to 1884. Long before premiumisation became a buzzword in India’s alcohol industry, the distillery was already producing spirits in Russia. The vodka itself is crafted using carefully selected grains, Lux-grade spirit and pure glacial water, a recipe the company says creates a smooth and refined drinking experience.
Soyuzprod is one such bet!
Available across India at a starting price of ₹1,000, the brand is positioning itself as an accessible entry point into authentic Russian vodka. Whether it becomes a major success or remains a niche favourite will ultimately be decided in bars, restaurants and retail stores across the country.

What is clear, however, is that international spirits companies no longer view India as a market of the future. They see it as the market of right now.
