he Remember the days when we used to order food online and get massive promotional discounts whenever we ordered from a new restaurant, if there was a festival, or simply because the app decided to be kind? Well, those days now feel like a lifetime ago! A now-viral post on Reddit shows a Zomato bill from seven years ago, and it has left the internet stunned as it showed no delivery charges or platform fees.
Zomato Bill From 2019 Leaves Netizens Nostalgic
Redditor @No-Win6448 recently posted a Zomato bill from 2019, and it has left the internet feeling a bit too nostalgic. In the bill image, you can see that there are no delivery charges, platform fees, packaging charges, GST, or surcharges that can inflate the bill. According to to post, when the Redditor ordered ‘Paneer Malai Tikka’ in 2019, it cost around ₹160, but the total payable amount was only ₹92, thanks to the coupon code applied.
In the caption, the Redditor added, “Just went scrolling down the order history to see this order today. This was the time when Zomato was actually affordable to order. I don’t know if Swiggy was there or not, not sure about that. But the coupon code’s discount (back when coupons actually meant discount no gimmick) and that too from an outlet currently 9.6 km away from my home, and no delivery charges in sight…those were the days of affordable eating, today the same order is around ₹300 from the same restaurant. Of course, the price of the food item has almost doubled, but yeah, I would love to eat at home at these prices or in other words around the same affordability as food delivery apps.”

Internet Reacts To The Viral Post
As expected, the internet had plenty to say about the stark price difference and the growing list of charges added to food delivery platforms like Zomato over the years. While many joked that 2019 doesn’t feel like seven years ago, others pointed out that inflation has played a big role in the rising costs.
“Damn, 2019 still feels like it was two years ago,” one of the comments read.
Another one said, “Well, every platform was affordable back then, but compare it with the living costs and wages. Cannot get everything for less now. Always remember there are costs everywhere. If you are getting paneer chilli at 150, then who is even making a profit? Zomato takes 30%. 100 left with the restaurant. You’ll obviously get a fake paneer dish then. Not even enough to cover rent or salaries.”
One user said, “Moments that no one would believe if they weren’t recorded.”
“I get what you mean, brother, but I am someone who’s worked in the catering industry for some time. The cost of raw materials has almost doubled (not everything, but I remember we used to buy Amul ghee for ₹5500 for a 15kg tin, and now it’s near ₹9000), so that’s another reason. Then Zomato & Swiggy used to give almost 50% discount at that time on almost 90% of the restaurants,” another user wisely explained.
“The era with good discounts and no platform fees,” another comment read.

Before you all point out, we do understand that inflation plays a role in rising food delivery costs. However, it’s hard to deny that the additional charges these days significantly inflate the final bill.
