Along with junk food, foodies are now also looking for healthier food options online. To meet the growing demand for healthier meals, Swiggy introduced its High Protein category a few months ago. The category, offering a variety of protein-rich dishes, has now expanded to over 160 cities across India, along with four new subcategories for users to explore.

Swiggy’s High Protein category is already a hit. Now, to make decision-making easier for healthy foodies, the company has added four new subcategories: Low-Cal, No-Fry, Gluten-Free, and Protein Minis. The Low-Cal subcategory includes dishes under 400 kcal for calorie-conscious users, whereas No-Fry features grilled, roasted, and steamed food options for those who prefer healthier meals.

The Gluten-Free subcategory highlights alternatives such as millet and quinoa for users with specific dietary restrictions. These additions aim to cater to users’ protein needs and lifestyle choices. Moreover, ensuring that you don’t compromise your snacking time with unhealthy options, Swiggy has also launched Protein Minis. This subcategory has a range of bite-sized, protein-packed meals and snacks perfect for healthy snacking. Each option is loaded with 5 to 15 grams of protein, making them ideal for a quick energy boost.

More About The ‘High Protein’ Category

Earlier, Swiggy had launched the High Protein category in July, and within a few months, it became a hit. Now, to give access to this category to more people, it has expanded to over 160 cities across India. Under this category, Swiggy has a network of 1.4 lakh restaurants and 1 million high-protein dishes.

Speaking on the latest addition, Deepak Maloo, Vice President – Food Strategy, Customer Experience & New Initiatives, Swiggy, said the High Protein category over the past three months has provided unique insights into consumer behaviour. The response has been overwhelming, not just from metros but also from emerging cities, with users embracing protein-rich choices—whether individuals monitoring fitness goals, young professionals looking for quick meals, or families seeking balanced options.

He further added, “Protein is no longer a niche demand but is fast becoming a part of everyday eating. This is why we are deepening our protein range with three new subcategories—Low-Cal, No-Fry, and Gluten-Free—and introducing Protein Minis for snacking occasions. Successful collaborations with partners like McDonald’s, Dr Diet, and Caterspoint have further validated this shift.”
