The Indian dish that has gained global recognition is none other than Hyderabadi Biryani — a favourite of countless Indians. In the list of the world’s top 50 rice dishes, it proudly holds the 10th spot, proving that it’s not only a local favourite but also international food lovers can’t get enough of it.
Hyderabadi biryani is a must-try South Indian delicacy prepared with basmati rice, chicken, or mutton, along with yoghurt, lemon, onions, and saffron. Prepared with a unique cooking method, it comes in two major variations: kachchi and pakki. The rice and meat are slow-cooked together with rich spices, so the flavours melt into each other. This traditional technique, known as dum, is believed to have originated in Persia and was introduced to India during the Mughal era.
