Inspired by the Irani cafes and Bombay-style street food, Dishoom has become one of the UK’s most celebrated Indian restaurant chains. It currently operates five outlets across prime locations in London, including Carnaby, Shoreditch, Covent Garden, King’s Cross, and Kensington. Beyond London, Dishoom also has restaurants in Birmingham, Manchester, and Edinburgh.

Famous for serving nostalgic dishes like their House Black Daal, Chicken Ruby, and Okra Fries, Dishoom enjoys a dedicated fan base and often sees long wait times, especially during peak hours. According to a report by Private Equity Insights, Dishoom has now secured a major external investment from L Catterton, which has acquired a minority stake in the company. The deal reportedly values Dishoom at approximately £300 million (₹352.0659 crores approx). The restaurant group is led by founders Shamil Thakrar and Kavi Thakrar, alongside CEO Brian Trollip.

Shamil Thakrar shared with The Caterer that the team is excited to partner with L Catterton. He also added that the investment will allow them to pursue international opportunities while continuing to focus on what matters most: serving delicious food and delivering warm hospitality.
