Curly Tales is back yet again with another CT Review. I stepped into Grammie, located in Sangam Courtyard, New Delhi. The moment I stepped in, I was lost in its intimate ambience and relaxed atmosphere. But that’s not the main part. The food and drinks they served were just a class apart. This restaurant is known for serving ‘Wafu’ cuisine, which is basically a Japanese-Italian fusion. Here’s what I ate and drank at Grammie’s this Sunday.
Grammie, A Hideaway In Sangam Courtyard
Grammie, tucked away in Sangam Courtyard, is a place where you can enjoy quiet afternoons with your loved ones. After all, there is no moment that comes close to enjoying hearty food and refreshing drinks over light-hearted conversations. This is what Grammie is. The moment I stepped in, I was taken aback by its artistic interiors and shiny floors, which reflected the sunlight coming through the windows.
So, without further ado, let me get into the details of what I ate and drank. There was so much food and so many drinks that I seriously went into a food coma. But even after that, I really can’t wait to be back at Grammie. I started lunch by munching on bread from the ‘Breads to Share with Grill’ basket. It consisted of sourdough, focaccia, laffa and brioche. This was served so we could nibble while deciding what to order for starters. Here’s what I ate and drank at this newly opened Wafu spot in Delhi!
Starters

1. Goat’s Cheese And Chicken Gyozas: I started with goat’s cheese gyozas. They offered a unique fusion of Japanese-style dumplings paired with creamy and slightly tangy goat’s cheese. They were just delectable, honestly, I couldn’t stop at one. Next came the chicken gyozas. They had perfectly cooked chicken, crispy on the outside and juicy inside. Tender, flavourful and very satisfying.
2. Avocado and Enoki Carpaccio: This was my first time trying this dish, and honestly, I was bowled over. It was served in warm beurre noisette with yuzu dressing. The dish felt delicate yet refreshing. It was creamy and crunchy at the same time. The buttery notes and earthy enoki mushrooms created a balanced flavour.
3. Fire-Roasted Green Asparagus: This dish came tossed in butter garlic sauce with hazelnuts. It was light, tender and a little charred. It worked perfectly as an in-between bite while waiting for the next dish.
4. Chicken Wings: These were definitely my favourite starters at Grammie. The chicken wings were stuffed with chicken and cooked beautifully with a smoky finish. They paired perfectly with my cocktail, which I will talk about later.
5. Prawn Ceviche: The prawn ceviche was not something I ordered, but it arrived at my table as a surprise, and I’m so glad it did. The prawns were perfectly cooked, not rubbery at all, and soaked in a refreshing marinade. Every bite was thoroughly enjoyed.
6. Lamb Albondigas: I also relished the lamb albondigas, which are Spanish-style meatballs. The meatballs were served in warm, savoury, thick tomato sauce with a gentle garlicky kick. This starter came with a lightly buttered toast, which paired beautifully with the rich sauce.

Main Course
1. Brothless Chicken Ramen Bowl: For the main course, Grammie served their Brothless Chicken Ramen Bowl. I was already in a food coma, but I still couldn’t resist taking at least one bite. This was a dry-style ramen that focused entirely on noodles rather than broth. The noodles were coated in sauce and tasted deeply comforting. The dish had hints of garlic and sesame.
All these dishes came with four condiments on the table: Hot Sauce, Portuguese Chilli Crisp, Pickled Jalapenos and Tomato Salsa.
Desserts & Cocktails I Enjoyed At Grammie
The afternoon was not only about savoury dishes. I also relished an amazing dessert and some refreshing cocktails.
Dessert

1. Pistachio Tiramisu: Then came the best part of the meal. Grammie served tiramisu with their own twist. Instead of classic tiramisu, I enjoyed a gourmet green-coloured pistachio-flavoured version. It was surprisingly light with a rich, balanced taste. The best part? It wasn’t too sweet, perfect for people who don’t have a sweet tooth but still crave dessert. This was definitely the highlight of the evening. It was creamy and refreshing. Instead of coffee-soaked ladyfingers, this version used coffee-soaked sponge cake.
Drinks

1. Passionfruit & Vanilla: A spritz-style drink made with Grey Goose vodka, prosecco, passionfruit punch and citrus. It was bright, refreshing and very easy to drink. Moreover, it instantly put me in ‘vacation mode’!
2. Blood Orange & Betel: This cocktail was definitely spirit-forward. While a Negroni isn’t usually something I enjoy during the day, this version was surprisingly refreshing. If you’re looking for a bolder drink to pair with hearty dishes, this is the one to go for. I truly loved this version!
3. Lychee & Sesame: Made with blanco tequila, lychee and citrus, topped with thick coconut whip and sesame. It was slightly sweet with a creamy texture. One sip instantly transported me to a beach. In short, it was fun, aesthetic and smooth.
4. Mandarin & Jalapeno: The Mandarin & Jalapeno Margarita-style cocktail looked and tasted, at first sip, like a very well-made Bloody Mary. When I learnt about the ingredients, I was pleasantly surprised. It had a vibrant tartness that I really enjoyed, and the oregano salt on the rim brought the whole drink together beautifully.
5. Kakigori & Soda: This cocktail was one of the most delicious drinks I’ve had. It’s something I know I would go back for as soon as summer arrives. I had the spiked version with whisky, and it wasn’t just pretty to look at; it was also extremely refreshing and indulgent. Even if you’re not a whisky person, this is one cocktail you must try.
My whole experience at Grammie was amazing. I came back home feeling the way only good food makes you feel: satisfied and happy. If you are ever in Delhi and want a place serving excellent Japanese and Italian flavours, Grammie should be on top of your list.
