“Dance Karke Dikhao”: Huma Reveals How Saqib Was The Official Performer During Family Gatherings

Every Indian kid knows this feeling. The doorbell rings; relatives come, and suddenly, your parents remember every single talent you’ve ever displayed in your life. Turns out, even celebrities weren’t spared from this very specific form of childhood torture. During a candid conversation on Sunday Brunch with Kamiya Jani, Huma Qureshi and brother Saqib Saleem looked back at the days when his mother treated every family gathering like his personal stage show.

Huma Qureshi Reveals The Family’s Go-To Performer

The actress revealed that Saqib Saleem was actually quite a popular dancer in his colony growing up and genuinely enjoyed dancing. At least until guests showed up. The moment relatives walked through the door, his mother would immediately put him to work.

“Dance karke dikhao.”

And there was no escaping it.

Huma recalled that he’d happily start performing, but within five minutes, his enthusiasm would completely disappear. The problem though, was that his mother wasn’t done yet.

While he was mentally checking out of the performance, she would continue encouraging him from the sidelines, making sure the show went on. What felt like a quick dance number to him somehow stretched into a 30-minute performance for the guests.

Making matters even funnier was his mother’s unwavering confidence in his abilities.

According to Huma Qureshi, she would proudly tell everyone, “Kitna badhiya dancer hai.” Looking back, the actor couldn’t help but laugh at the memory. In his head, he was having a completely different reaction.

Itna bekar dance. You think this is a good dance?”

A Story That Perfectly Captures Indian Family Gatherings

The honesty of the confession had everyone cracking up. That’s when Saqib Saleem jumped in with an observation that every Indian family can relate to. No matter what the reality is, every parent is convinced their child is extraordinary. Every mother thinks her son is capable of lighting up the room and is basically Hrithik Roshan

Reflecting on his own dancing skills, Saqib admitted that the truth probably lay somewhere in the middle. He wasn’t completely hopeless, but he wasn’t exactly the next big dance sensation either.

Bura nahi tha, lekin accha bhi nahi tha,” he joked.

The room erupted in laughter, and for a moment, the conversation became eerily similar to all Indian households that have parents who hype you up like you’re a superstar and siblings who make sure you never take yourself too seriously.
