The Bilaspur-Yelahanka weekly train service has now been made regular, boosting rail connectivity between Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh and Bengaluru. Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs and Bilaspur Lok Sabha MP Tokhan Sahu flagged off the service at a function held at Bilaspur Railway Station. Read on to know about the service.

Bilaspur-Bengaluru Train To Cover Over 1,500 Km

As per a report by The Hitavada, Tokhan Sahu stated that the regular service would make travel between Bilaspur and Bengaluru more convenient, addressing a long-standing demand from passengers in the Bilaspur Lok Sabha constituency.

The Bilaspur-Yelahanka Weekly Express (Train No. 18261) covers approximately 1,573-1,592 km, depending on the railway timetable source, and takes around 29 hours to reach Yelahanka. The train will travel to Bilaspur at 2 pm every Wednesday and arrive at Yelahanka at 7 pm the following day. On its return journey, Train No. 18262 will leave Yelahanka at 9:30 pm every Thursday.

Train To Boost Connectivity Between Chhattisgarh And South India

The train will link several important stations along the route, including Bhatapara, Raipur, Durg, Rajnandgaon, Dongargarh, Gondia, Balharshah, Kazipet, Secunderabad, Raichur, Guntakal, Anantapur, Dharmavaram and Hindupur. The new regular service is expected to benefit passengers travelling between Chhattisgarh and Bengaluru, particularly those heading to the southern city for work, education, business and other purposes.

The daily service will provide a direct rail route between Bilaspur and Yelahanka, which will reduce the need for passengers to change trains while travelling between Chhattisgarh and Bengaluru. The route travels through several major railway junctions and cities across Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Telangana, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, making it convenient for passengers travelling across multiple states. The regularisation of the service also means travellers can plan their journeys more reliably, particularly those who previously depended on the train when it operated as a special service.
