A massive fire occurred in one of the air-conditioned coaches of a Delhi-bound Rajdhani Express in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, this morning. However, the officials stated that no one was injured in the incident. Read on to know more.
Fire Breaks Out In Delhi-Bound Rajdhani Express
According to an NDTV report, the fire broke out around 5:15 am in the B-1 coach, which carried about 68 passengers. According to the officials, the incident happened between Vikramgarh Alot and Luni Richha stations. The fire also destroyed the second luggage guard van (SLR) that was attached behind the B-1 coach. However, the cause of the fire is still under investigation, and the affected coach was detached from the rake, and the overhead electric supply (OHE) was switched off immediately to ensure safety.

As soon as the fire broke out, a video circulated online showing thick, massive clouds of black smoke rising high into the air from the detached rake. The fire also grew to some trees near the railway tracks.
No Casualties Reported During The Incident
As per the reports, all the passengers were safely evacuated from the train, and arrangements were made to keep them in other coaches for the journey up to Kota, Rajasthan. West Central Railway’s chief public relations officer, Harshit Shrivastava, informed the news portal that the affected guard van and the coach were detached from the rake, and the train resumed its journey at around 9.45 am.

Additionally, once the train reaches Kota, an additional coach will be attached to restore the train’s full capacity. The Rajdhani Express train no. 12431 left Kerala’s Thiruvananthapuram on Friday and was scheduled to reach Delhi’s Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station at 12:30 pm today.
The train had already covered about 2,500 kilometres and was about 650 kilometres from the national capital when the fire broke out. The incident caused disruption to rail traffic on the route, affecting the schedules of around 18 trains. Some trains were stopped at different stations following the incident.
The good part is that all the passengers of the coach are completely safe and secure.
