From Booking Early To Background Check: 5 Tiger Safari Tips Shared By A Wildlife Photographer

Have you ever planned a tiger safari and come back disappointed because you couldn’t spot a big cat? Don’t worry, it’s very common. Wildlife never works on our commands, so we can’t see a tiger just because we want to. It depends on our luck, but how we plan the safari also plays a big role. Now, a wildlife photographer has shared some simple tips that can make your safari experience much better.

Wildlife Photographer Shares Tiger Safari Tips

Wildlife lovers relate to this so well. You plan a jungle safari, get excited about seeing a tiger in the wild, and return home upset. Many people go hoping to spot a big cat but end up seeing a wild boar or an Indian wild dog. Of course, watching these animals is also a good experience, but the thrill of watching a tiger or a leopard is still unmatched.

Tiger sightings depend on luck, but your planning also matters. Wildlife photographer Sagar (@Pixel_Stripes) recently shared the same thing on his X account. He told people to make informed decisions before booking their safari. He highlighted five points that can help wildlife lovers plan better.

5 Tips You Can Follow For A Great Wildlife Tour

Here are the five tips as shared by wildlife photographer Sagar you can follow before planning your wildlife tour:

1. Don’t book at the last minute: Sagar said people often book their hotels and flights first and then book their safari through local agents. This can go wrong. Agents might charge more or put you in a zone where tiger sightings are rare because good zones get booked early. Always book your safari before booking your hotel.

2. Plan safaris in a group of four or six: Safaris are expensive. It’s best to book in a group of four or six so you get value for money. This covers the entire jeep, guide fees, and permit fees. It’s not worth paying so much for just two or three people.

3. Plan your flight timings well: Choose a flight that gives you enough time to reach the hotel, freshen up and rest before your safari. If you travel on a flight schedule, you end up tired, and the whole experience becomes disappointing.

4. Do a proper background check: Always check the background of the person handling your safari permits. Ask questions about the zone they are booking for you. You should know this information before finalising anything. It saves money and avoids last-minute problems.

5. Book your tiger safari 2-3 months in advance: Booking your safari early gives you time to plan the trip. The best part is that you get access to good zones in the tiger reserve you opt for. This increases your chances of spotting a big cat and also gives you full value for your money.

So, these were the five tips you can follow for a better tiger safari. Along with this, make sure you also follow the basic dos and don’ts of a jungle safari.
