A YouTuber and a content creator on Instagram, Mahi Khan, who goes by the username @mahinergy, shared a video with his followers. In the clip, Mahi is seen talking to a woman(a fellow passenger) who tells him to “speak in Marathi” because he was travelling to Mumbai. The woman, who refused to reveal her name on camera, can be heard saying, “Whatever my name is…you are going to Mumbai, you should know Marathi.”
Mahi then responds that he doesn’t speak Marathi. He adds, “Kya badtameezi hai yeh?” (What kind of rude behaviour is this?) To which the woman replies, “I’ll show you what badtameezi is,” allegedly threatening him. As per Mahi Khan’s Instagram post, they were travelling to Mumbai on Air India Flight AI676.
The video ends with Mahi Khan addressing his viewers, saying that this is what’s happening on Air India flights, and that too in a country that proudly says, “Unity in Diversity.” He further claims the woman warned him that once he reached Mumbai, she would “show him what badtameezi is,” and told him that if he wanted to live in the city, he must know Marathi. He ends the video by asking, “What kind of mentality is this?”

Netizens React To The Viral Post
Mahi Khan also tagged Air India in his post and urged the airline to take strict action against such behaviour. He wrote, “No passenger should feel unsafe or humiliated for simply speaking a different language.”
Many of his followers came out in his support. One user commented, “I will never choose Air India if you cannot give us a public apology from this lady. Another said, “Unbelievable… Ajeeb log hai!” One Instagram user wrote, “How dare she say Mumbai utar Battameezi dikhati hoon? Guts? Who is she?” One resident from Mumbai commented, “As a Mumbaikar, I apologise.”
It’s clear that netizens were outraged by the woman’s behaviour on this Air India flight. After all, it isn’t polite to threaten somone for not speaking a particular language, right?
