IRCTC Catering Staff Throw Unused Food Plates On Railway Tracks; Netizens Demand Strict Action

A video of IRCTC catering staff throwing unused and foul-smelling meals onto railway tracks from moving trains has now sparked major public outrage. Netizens have raised questions not just about food quality and hygiene but also civic responsibility. They are now demanding strict action from officials against the people responsible. Here’s what happened.

Video Shows IRCTC Catering Staff Throwing Food On Railway Tracks

Incidents of passengers getting rotten or poor-quality food on Indian trains are not uncommon. This is why IRCTC keeps coming up with plans and initiatives to improve the quality of food served onboard. But what should catering staff do if a plate of unused food on a train has gone bad? Dispose of it properly, right? But a recent video going viral shows the complete opposite.

Footage widely circulating on social media shows catering staff tossing full, untouched meal plates onto railway tracks from a moving train. According to the video posted on X by @DocRGM, the food was not fit for consumption. Either it had gone bad, or it was not up to the standards.

Netizens Question Food Quality & Civic Sense

The viral video highlights a larger issue. Complaints regarding food quality and hygiene on Indian trains have increased in recent times. But instead of disposing of the food properly, the staff is allegedly throwing it onto the tracks, making the issue even more worrying.

Naturally, netizens were furious over the act and demanded strict action against those responsible. One user wrote, “Just throw it in the bin, man. I think basic civic sense regarding proper waste disposal should be taught to everyone,” while another questioned, “Why is this normalised?” A third user suggested that passengers should carry their own food or fruits for the journey instead of relying on train meals.
