Mumbai-Bound IndiGo Flight Develops Flat Tyre; Takes Off After Over 4-Hour Delay

A Mumbai-bound IndiGo flight was delayed for more than four hours at Jabalpur’s Dumna Airport on Monday. One of the flight’s tyres went flat while the aircraft was parked in the apron area of the airport. The deflated tyre led to passengers being stranded at the airport until the staff replaced it.

Many passengers on the Jabalpur-Mumbai IndiGo flight were left waiting at the airport. One of the aircraft’s tyres had deflated while it was parked in the apron (the area where aircraft are parked) of Jabalpur’s Dumna Airport. As per a report by India TV, the flight had arrived from Mumbai at noon and was scheduled to depart at 12:40 pm.

Reportedly, the tyre went flat after passengers from the incoming flight had safely disembarked. Dumna Airport Director Rajeev Ratan Pandey shared with PTI that the aircraft could not take off due to a technical snag. He further added that a replacement tyre was flown in from Delhi to resolve the issue.

Passengers Stranded At The Airport For 4 Hours

As per a report by India TV, many passengers were rebooked onto other IndiGo flights heading to their destinations. A large number of flyers waited at the airport while the tyre was being replaced. The aircraft was later cleared for takeoff after the repair was completed.

The aircraft, which was scheduled to depart for Mumbai at 12:40 pm, finally took off at around 5:30 pm, causing a delay of more than four hours. So far, IndiGo has not released any official statement regarding the incident.

Tyre deflation on aircraft can occur due to various reasons, such as excessive braking, overheating, overloading, or cuts in the tyre. Once deflated, aircraft tyres require proper inspection and replacement, which can lead to flight delays or even cancellations.
