Bengaluru residents and Mumbaikars, get ready! You’re soon going to get a Vande Bharat sleeper train for a more comfortable overnight journey. Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has given approval for a Vande Bharat Sleeper train service between Bengaluru and Mumbai. This train upgrade was later confirmed through an official announcement post on X by P. C. Mohan. This step is focused on improving passenger experience on this busy route.
The train is planned to run between KSR Bengaluru Railway Station and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT). This route is widely used by business travellers, students, and tourists, making it one of the busiest intercity corridors in India.

How Vande Bharat Sleeper Will Improve Travel Experience
Until now, most Vande Bharat services have been chair-car trains meant for shorter journeys. The sleeper version is designed specifically for long-distance travel, offering better comfort, modern facilities, and reduced travel time. As per The Indian Express, the train is being developed by BEML using technology from the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai. It will feature an orange and grey design.
This will be the second Vande Bharat Sleeper train in the country. The first one was launched earlier in January 2026 and runs between Howrah and Kamakhya. That service has already reduced travel time between the two cities by up to six hours.
