Student Complains About IRCTC Captcha; Railway Minister Promises New Website By July 15

Union Railway Minister Ashwinin Vaishnaw has promised that a new and improved Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) website will be released to the public by July 15. Read on to know more.

IRCTC To Release Upgraded Website By July 15

As per a report by NDTV, Ashwinin announced the upgradation of the IRCTC website during an interaction with students at Malaviya National Institute of Technology (MNIT), Jaipur. A video of the conversation where Vaishnaw called up a railway official to question him about the new website has gone viral on social media. The video starts with a student complaining about the Captcha issue on the official railway website, which millions of people use on a daily basis to book their train journeys across India.

The student requested that the problem of the IRCTC captcha be solved, and Ashwinin Vaishnaw instantly dialled a department official and gave the order. He further questioned the railway official about whether the new website could be set up in 30 days. Following that, Vaishnaw notified the students that a new IRCTC website will launch by July 15, which prompted cheers and expressions of gratitude from the students.

The IRCTC Website Faces Frequent Problems

As per the reports, the IRCTC website has long been marked for its crashes and interruptions during peak hours. OTP problems and high-traffic delays during Tatkal bookings have been one of the major complaints of passengers. Since Indian Railways started accepting online reservations for tickets in 2002, digital bookings have taken over the system. According to officials, around 88% of train ticket bookings are now made online instead of at actual reservation desks.

Earlier this month, IRCTC stated that it had greatly strengthened its monitoring system to improve the hygiene and quality of food provided at railway stations and on trains. IRCTC reported that it had implemented an artificial intelligence (AI) based monitoring system in its base kitchens, allowing round-the-clock surveillance of the food preparation process across India.
